BASINGSTOKE Town booked their place in the final of the Hampshire Senior Cup, where they will face AFC Bournemouth, after a 3-1 victory over Winchester City.

In fact the Dragons scored all fours goals on the night, as Charlie Kennedy, David Ray and Nana Owusu scored in the right net and Marcus Johnson-Schuster in the wrong goal.

The home side made two changes to the side which lost at Slough, with Owusu (dead leg) and Ashleigh Artwell (ill) moving to the subs bench, being replaced by Aaron Redford and Michael Atkinson.

Town got off to a great start, as they took the lead in the seventh minute, as a great ball out to the wing from Michael Atkinson found Johnson-Schuster.

The right back drove to the byline and crossed for Kennedy to score with great flick at the near post.

Aaron Jarvis then tested the visiting goalkeeper Lewis Noice with a low shot as the home side dominated.

A excellent ball from the impressive George Bennett found Jarvis, but the covering Jamie Ford forced a corner.

Another long ball from Bennett again found Jarvis who this time fired wide.

On 33 minutes the home side were forced to make a change as Redford suffering from a hamstring injury was replaced by Artwell.

The second half started the visitors looking to get back in the game and the lively Craig Feeney fed Howard Neighbour, but he was unable to control the ball and the chance went begging.

However, seven minutes after the break, the scores were level, as Feeney again, was involved with a turn on the edge of the box and in the process Johnson-Schuster poked the ball into the bottom corner leaving Alex Tokarczyk no chance.

Town manager Terry Brown made an immediate change bringing on Owusu for Dan Collier and moved away from playing the midfield diamond.

The visitors had a little purple patch after the goal, without creating a clear cut chance, but then the home side got back on top.

A great ball down the wing from Bennett released Owusu and he cut inside before firing wide.

Then on 74 minutes, Artwell went down in the box from a challenge from Adam Roberts, the assistant referee flagged for a penalty and in the meantime Owusu slotted the ball into the net.

However, after a few moments of confusion the referee Craig Robson decided to award a free-kick to City instead.

The let off was short lived as two minutes later the home side took the lead, as Artwell was felled again and this time won a free-kick.

Sam Deadfield delivered a great ball, from just outside the edge of the area to the back post, where Ray with diving header found the net.

The victory was then sealed two minutes later, as another free-kick from 25 yards out saw Owusu produce another super strike, which left Noice no chance as the ball moved in the air.

After the game manager Terry Brown said: "It is great for this club to reach the Hampshire Senior Cup final and we face AFC Bournemouth, which will give these players a great opportunity to showcase their ability.

"It was a really hard game tonight and full credit to Winchester City, they were excellent opposition."
