BASINGSTOKE Town boss Terry Brown has just one New Year’s resolution and this to sign a new centre forward for his side.

On Monday afternoon he watched Town create a hatful of chances, but in the end they had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Dorchester.

Brown said: “I cannot fault the effort of the players in the game against Dorchester. The team is not set-up correctly at the moment that is down to me, as we need a centre forward to score the goals.

“This will really take the pressure off the rest of the team.”

Yesterday Brown was going to watch a possible signing and hopefully he could be in the line-up for what looks a tough trip to Kettering's Latimer Park on Saturday.

The Dragons beat their Northamptonshire rivals 3-0 back in August at the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium, but since then Kettering have moved up to tenth and Basingstoke have slipped to 17th.

Brown said: "Kettering is a tough place to go and get a result, but we will go there and see what we can do.”

There were no new injuries after the Dorchester game, while Ashleigh Antwell and Dan Coller are expected to return to training today, after a spell on the sidelines.

On Tuesday night, Town travel to Hayes and Yeading in a Southern League Cup tie, with Brown expected to rotate his squad for the game.
