REIGNING champions Hook continued where they left off last season in the Basingstoke and District League Division One as they won at AFC Aldermaston Reserves 4-2.

Aldermaston pulled out of the Reading League to return to the Basingstoke League this season, but fell behind after 23 minutes, when a cross from Pete Silvester was headed firmly into the net by Sam Barker.

Aldermaston levelled after 37 minutes from Stephen Francis, following a good ball from Paul Grundy.

Just before half time Hook restored their lead, as good interplay play by Silvester and Stuart Parker led to Dan Mellors beating the goalkeeper.

Silvester was also instrumental in laying on the fourth, put away by Parker.

Aldermaston pulled a goal back on the 80 minute mark after a great volley from Shaabbnz Francis, but a minute later Parker was brought down by Grundy and he got up to put away the awarded penalty.

Promoted Basingstoke United started life in Division One with the scalp of Twentyten, beating them 1-0.

United goalkeeper James Sallows pulled off excellent saves from Dave Vallence, James Arnold and Jake Tanner in the first 45 minutes.

Then his team mates grabbed the winner on 75 minutes as a break from Tom Hartley led to Joe Cook scoring.

Basingstoke Royals have returned to the league after a season in the Sunday League and proved too good for Basingstoke Athletic, beating them 5-2.

Craig Barker converted a pass from Stephen Horton after 15 minutes.

Athletic replied on the half hour through Matt Stillwell, but in the 40th minute Barker and Ama Bhuller combined for Tobi Judd to net from close in.

It became 3-1 after 55 minutes, when a long throw from Judd was flicked on by Barker and Dan Trump placed the ball past goalkeeper Luke Allison.

In the 70th minute a free-kick taken by Dave Trevelion took a deflection off Stuart Urquhart to pull in back to 3-2, but late goals from Ashley Taylor and Horton sealed the points for Royals.

Tadley Calleva A and DC UK draw 1-1.

Michael Abbott gave Tadley the lead after 14 minutes, as he headed a cross after a good run from Rob Kelly.

Luke Allaston and Kelly both missed good chances for Tadley and Ash Saunders headed against the post.

The visitors team comprised mostly of the Tron side that won Division Two last season scored the equaliser after 70 minutes thanks to Stuart Austen's 35-yard volley into the top corner.

Ben Nicholls had a great chance to seal maximum points, but was denied by a great save.

CHRIS Dobbie scored a double hat-trick as Herriard beat visiting Twentyten Reserves 9-1.

Dobbie scored a hat-trick in the opening 32 minutes. His third being a penalty after Alex Roberts was brought down.

James Brown did manage to get a goal back with a half volley, but a Dobbie netted his fourth from a Sam Cato assist.

Cato and Weber added further goals to make it 6-1 just before the break and after the interval Dobbie scored twice and Weber netted the other.

Graham Jenkins, who ran TDI Group last season, has joined up with Alan Spacagna, the Twentyten boss to keep the team going.

Relegated Basingstoke Labour Club got off their Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two campaign off with a bang, beating AFC Berg 5-1.

Matt Kelly netted twice in the opening 25 minute s and laid on the third, put away by former Sherborne striker Ibrahian Waheed.

Josh Dickens added a fourth with an assist from Waheed, before Ben Clark pulled a goal back for Berg.

Wayne Barlow found his son Jack with good pass for Labour's fifth and final goal.

Jamal Rose opened the scoring for Overton United B against visiting AFC Aldermaston after 38 minutes when a good ball from the left by Liam Randall fell to him.

Four minutes later, Rose scored his second, with Randall again getting the assist.

Excellent play by Nuno Frango played through to give Richard Budd a chance as they ended the half on top.

In the second half Aldermaston improved and goalkeeper Gavin Alexander, Overton’s capture from Winklebury Wizards, played his part, although they were fortunate when a free-kick, taken by Jordon Deemer hit the woodwork.

Newcomers Longdog Soldiers were beaten 9-0 by Winklebury Wizards in their opening game.

Richard Lowther opened the scoring on eight minute and George Lagden soon headed home the second. Lowther made it 3-0 and after a 30-yard solo run Dean Scott added another.

A short corner taken by Steve Hadley led to Josh Craig making it 5-0 at the break.

The dominance continued in the second half when Lagden completed his ha-trick and further goals came from Andre Brown, Joe West and Alex Stevens.
