BASINGSTOKE Town made it two wins on the trot with an excellent 3-2 victory at Cinderford.

The visitors made three changes to the side which won at Kettering last weekend with Joe Gater, Aaron Redford and Dan Collier all coming in for David Ray, Aaron Jarvis and Ashleigh Artwell.

Basingstoke started well and kept the home side penned into their own half with some good measured passing.

On four minutes, Robert Atkinson went on a good run through the home defence but was just squeezed out as he was about to shoot.

The Dragons continued to dominate and on 24 minutes George Bennett saw a good shot pushed round the post by home goalkeeper Ben Fletcher.

Against the run of play, Cinderford took the lead with their first meaningful shot on target.

Gethyn Hill created some space following a move on the right and fed an incisive pass into the path of Lewis Feeley. The winger curled a shot around Alex Tokarczyk and into the net from 18 yards.

Basingstoke responded well and within two minutes were unlucky not to draw level. A Sam Deadfield corner saw two full blooded efforts from the edge of the box from Aaron Redford and Robert Atkinson somehow get blocked before the home side managed to clear.

Further Basingstoke pressure forced a corner on the left.

The kick was taken by George Hallahan and Robert Atkinson rose highest to head home the equaliser.

On 42 minutes, Jacob Morgan had an effort on goal for Cinderford. The shot took a deflection and Tokarczyk did well to push the ball over the crossbar.

From the corner the Town goalie caught the ball and immediately launched an attack with a long kick.

Redford won the race for the ball and after beating the last defender fired in a fierce shot which was well saved by Fletcher.

On the stroke of half time, Deadfield tried his luck with a shot but the ball went just past the post.

Five minutes after the break, Robert Atkinson made good progress down the left and fed Redford in the box.

The striker went down under a tackle, but the referee waved away the penalty claim and awarded the home side a free-kick.

Cinderford regained the lead on 55 minutes. The referee spotted a hand ball by a Basingstoke player on the edge of the penalty box.

Hill hit a full blooded shot at the wall which partly blocked. The ball fell loose and Morgan was quickest to react and scored with a low shot from 10 yards.

Two minutes later, Cinderford almost increased the lead when Ben Hands brought out a good save from Tokarczyk.

On 59 minutes, the Dragons pulled level. A good move down the left side saw a cross from Aaron Redford go beyond the back post.

Dan Collier launched himself into the air to send a spectacular shot over the home keeper.

Cinderford had a good spell of pressure and on 66 minutes forced four corners in a row.

From the first by Sam Hunt, a powerful shot at the near post from Josh Nelmes was pushed over the bar by Tokarczyk.

Basingstoke introduced Romane Rose as substitute and his direct running causeed the home defence no end of problems.

Rose fashioned himself a chance on 79 minutes and was desperately unlucky to see his well struck shot hit the inside of the post and come out.

Town pushed forward looking for the winner and were rewarded on 83 minutes.

Good play down the left by Tamille Roach and Redford saw the ball fed into the box to Deadfield.

In one movement he turned and fired a fierce shot into the roof of the net.

The win moves the Dragons up to 13th and tomorrow (3pm) they will hope to make it three wins on the trot, when they entertain seventh placed Frome.
