BASINGSTOKE Strikers Disabled Football's first ever tournament and fun day proved to be a great success.

A bumper crowd turned out at the War Memorial Park to support the eight teams in action, with the winners being HFT from Kingston after a penalty shoot-out victory over Ability Counts Bournemouth.

The Strikers wearing their brand new kit sponsored by PB Edwards certainly did themselves proud reaching the semi-finals, where they lost 3-2 in a thriller of a game to the eventual winners.

In the group stage of the competition the Strikers opened with a 0-0 draw with Feltham Bees and then lost to Bournemouth 1-0.

The side then won four straight games beating Pompey in the Community 2-1 and 1-0 as well as enjoying 1-0 victories over Feltham and Bournemouth.

This saw them finish second in their group and they faced Group B winners HFT in the semi-final, while Woking lost to Bournemouth in the other semi-final.

The raffle ran on the day raised nearly £4,000 and with the £1,000 sponsorship from PB Edwards the total from the event came close to £5,000. Basingstoke Town also donated £300 and a season ticket for the raffle.
