A SUPERB season for Basingstoke Town Ladies may yet have a bitter sweet ending for a team crowned champions of the Southern Region Premier Division.

This has earned them promotion to the Women's Premier League, which is three leagues below the top tier of women's football in this country.

However, to realise their dream and move up to the next level of the game, it is going to costly, so they are looking for sponsors.

The new league will see them playing teams in Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol, so the Ladies are looking for a donation of a minibus to cut down on travelling costs.

They are also in talks with Basingstoke Town, about using the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium next season as their home venue.

This is because they need a ground with a clubhouse, which their current home at Winklebury does not have.

They have until June 18 to make their decision and Town Ladies secretary Michelle Kimber said: "This is a dream for us, but we also want to make sure we do not destroy the club if we are promoted and cannot afford it. We really hope the local community will help us make the step and it would be great for women's football in this area."
