A HAT-TRICK of penalties in the final 15 minutes, saw Twenty Ten beaten 4-1 by Ryde Saints in the final of the Hampshire Junior A Cup at Alton Town's ground on Saturday.

Basingstoke's Twenty Ten were the better side during the game and it was no surprised their manager Alan Spacagna was very disappointed with some of the decisions by the match officials.

Apart from the penalty kicks, two given by the assistant referee, nine different players received yellow cards, very unusual for his young players.

The game stated brightly with Carl Pearson having a great chance in the second minute, but he was unable to find the target and within three minutes Ryde went in front. There were no complaints about this goal, as it was an unstoppable shot from 35 yards out, which flew past goalkeeper Jack Nicholson.

The first of the bookings was against Jake Tanner for an ordinary looking tackle and by half time Adam Elsgood, Joe Osborne and Jack Clarke all saw yellow cards.

Twenty Ten were passing the ball well and forced several corner kicks, Charlie Manning heading a Clarke's flag kick wide and just before half time Clarke hit the bar from a free-kick.

The Basingstoke team forced the pace after the break and on the hour equalised.

Excellent play by Clarke, saw him cut in and his shot hit a defender and rebounded for Christian Cox to place the ball into the net.

It looked like Twenty Ten would go on and win the game, but against the run of play Ryde were awarded their first penalty, after Manning was penalised and the spot kick was given by the assistant referee.

Twenty Ten only created half chances after this and five minutes from time Ryde were awarded a second penalty.

Again it came from a Ryde breakaway from a Twenty Ten corner, goalkeeper Jack Nicholson rushed out to clear and brought his man down, was booked. Substitute Frank Spacagna was the eighth man to find the referees book, before in the final minute, a foul by Joe Hill, saw the Isle of Wight completed their victory with a third penalty Twenty Ten: Jack Nicholson, Ben Osborne, Charlie Manning, Matt Talmage, Charlie Hill, Christian Cox, Jake Tanner, Jack Clarke, Carl Pearson, Adam Elsegood, Joe Osborne. Subs used. Joe Hill, Ryan Lupton, Franklin Spacagna.
