BASINGSTOKE Town manager Terry Brown was delighted with the way the Dragons ended their season, with two wins and three clean sheets.

Town wrapped up their campaign with a 2-0 victory in Essex on Saturday against Chelmsford City.

Brown said: "Chelmsford is never an easy place to go an get a result, so full credit to the boys they were the better side and deserved the win.”

Having announced last month Town would be going full time with a young side built around under-21 players.

Brown was delighted with the contributions of George Bennett, Aaron Jarvis and George Hallahan in the final two games.

The trio are all Basingstoke Academy players and Brown said: “I have been very impressed with what I have seen from all three of them. I think it is a credit to Academy manager Jason Bristow and exceptional we have three players able to step up to the first team.

Town relegated from the National League South, are still waiting to see where they will play next season, but the Town boss would definitely prefer his side to drop into the Southern League and avoid a season of travelling around the M25 based Isthmian League.

Brown said: “For sure I would like to go into the Southern League, but we will have to wait and see what happens.

On Tuesday night, the club held their first of a number of trial games as Brown gets the chance to cast his eyes as many players as possible.

Brown said: “I am talking to a number of senior players including ones at the club and not. They will be the role models for the youngsters so they have to be the right players.

"All the young players I sign, I want to have seen play."

Tomorrow night, Town will be holding a fans forum in the Camrose clubhouse from 6.30pm until 8pm.

There are sure to many interesting topics to discuss after last season and looking forward.

Club chairman Rafi Razzak, chief executive David Knight and manager Terry Brown will be answering the questions.
