DAYERS Fine Foods ended their Basingstoke and District Sunday League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Wheatsheaf 3-1, writes TONY SPENCER.
The goals for the victors came from Gordon Wainwright, Alan Spacgana and Joe Osborne.
On the Thursday evening, Oakley beat FC Basing 2-0 after a goalless first half.
Striker Dan Bloma and goalkeeper Sean O’Brien swapped places for the second half, which proved the difference between the sides.
Laith Aldoori scored first, then set up his brother Samie to round off the victory. Oakley sit in second place, having completed their fixtures, sweating on Tron’s last three games, where seven points from nine will snatch the runners-up spot.
Basingstoke Saints are relegated, probably along with Dayers Fine Foods, who, with one game left need to make up a 9-goal deficit over Wheatsheaf, who will need to watch the goals conceded in their own last match.
Hampshire Irons lost their final Division Two of the season against leaders Affini Technology 4-0.
This result secured the Division Two title for Affini, with Revolution coming second, while Team FC and North Warnborough are relegated.
In the final Division three match, DG Athletic lost 6-1 to FC Benidorm of Stoke. Paul Ralph netted DG’s consolation, while a hat-trick by Taylor Watts, Joshua Taylor’s brace and Tom Langley goals did the business for the visitors.
This result secured FC Benidorm of Stoke in second spot behind champions North Warnborough Reserves. DG Athletic and Basingstoke Saints Reserves finished in the bottom two places.
