AFC ALDERMASTON booked their place at the Madejski Stadium home of Reading Football Club for the second year running after they beat Reading YMCA 1-0 in a thrilling Berkshire Trophy Centre semi-final.

Aldermaston were beaten at the Royals ground last season and will face Cookham Dean on Tuesday night (7pm) hoping to erase the memory.

Once again they will start as underdogs as Cookham are second in the Thames Valley League Premier Division, but having beaten champions Reading YMCA, they will fancy their chances again.

In the semi-finals at Reading it was a close game with few chances for either side, AFC took the lead from a Lee Wheeler corner which was headed in from Martin King after 50 minutes.

The Aldermaston back four held strong all evening and AFC welcomed back Joe Barley, Karl Ward and Karl Hanks into the side and all the players were excellent.

Also the pace of Kai Parton Edey and Michael Porter caused Reading YMCA problems all evening.

YMCA did not have too many opportunities with the AFC back four solid all evening.

AFC Aldermaston: Dan Smith, Karl Ward, Joe Barley, Martin King, Richard Jones, Jamie Porter, Ben Gonzalez, Karl Hanks (sub Kevin Hill 90 mins) , Lee Wheeler, Michael Porter, Kai Parton Edey.

Subs (not used) Steve Eyles, David Appleton and Kevin Butcher.
