A PENALTY at the end of extra-time saw Affini Technology beat Bramley United 2-1 in the final of a hard fought Bernard Cornish Cup final.

The first chance of the game fell to Bramley's Nick Harris who headed over the bar, before Affini took the lead after four minutes as a cross fell to James Jupp at the far post to head home.

Harris again shot wide of the right hand post from a free kick on 11 minutes and Colin Bell's shot four minutes later, forced the Affini goalkeeper Josh Peckham to palm away.

Three minutes after the break, a good passing move from Bramley saw Stuart Leddy and Bell combined for skipper Dean Ridgers to fire wide.

Just before the hour mark, a Bell header came back off the crossbar and then Harris fired wide.

At the other end, Matt Bennett had swapped his midfield role for Joe Lawler's centre forward position, Lawler passed to Bennett, but David Wallace in the Bramley goal saved with his feet. Wallace then charged down Jupp's effort.

Bramley levelled things after 69 minutes as Phil Mark through ball picked out captain Dean Ridgers on the right side of the six-yard box and he fired in.

On 73 minutes Bell was through on the left but shot wide, then following a free-kick, David Weatherhead shot wide for Affini.

With no more goals the game went into extra time and Bramley kicked off the first half and pressed throughout. Adam Bartlett fired from long range, saved by Affini's man of the match Peckham. Shortly after, Leddy tested Peckham and then Bartlett fired over the bar.

At the start of the second period, Bramley's Wallace palmed away a corner, then watched as Affini substitute Shane Third turned and lobbed wide.

Three minutes in, Leddy, saw his glancing header was wide of the target. With four minutes remaining, Affini's Nick Jupp's left foot shot hit the post. Then Leddy's shot was deflected for a corner which Bramley wasted.

Three minutes into time added on at the end of the session, Affini were awarded a penalty for a foul and Jupp made no mistake from the spot to win the trophy.
