HARTLEY Wintney continued their reign at the top of the Combined Counties League Premier Division, thanks to a 3-0 victory over AFC Hayes.

Hartley started brightly and play was mainly one way traffic towards the visitors goal and after six minutes an Adam Everiss cross saw Sam Argent head wide.

Later on in the first half, the home side had a scare when goalkeeper Craig Atkinson slipped when fielding a long ball forward.

Dean McDonnel got the ball, but before he could shoot Atkinson bravely dived at this feet and claimed the ball.

Just after the half hour mark, a slick Hartley move saw Argent fire just over.

As the first half came to a close, Ross Cook's 25-year free-kick was pushed around the post by Hayes' goalkeeper Bobby Khiara.

The long overdue goal arrived on 42 minutes as Argent played in Cook through the middle and the pacey striker slotted home.

Hartley continued where they left off after the break as Argent fired just over.

Defender Steve Noakes was then unlucky to see his header from a corner cleared off the line 10 minutes into the second half.

On 61 minute mark, Hartley doubled their advantage as a right wing corner from Adam Everiss was headed home unchallenged by Argent.

Hartley added a third goal 13 minutes later, when Steve Duff made a good run down the left wing and his cross was headed in by cook for his 20th league goal of the season.

Tomorrow night, the village side are in League Cup action against visiting Chessington and Hook.

Then on Saturday, Hartley take on Hereford in the FA Vase fifth round tie and this game is an all ticket match and there will be no admission on the day of the match.
