GOALS from Ross Cook and Steven Duff saw Hartley Wintney beat leaders Ashford Town (Middlesex) to maintain their 100 per cent record in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.
Both sides tested the Memorial Ground woodwork during the first half of last night's game, with Sam Argent smashing a shot against the crossbar for Hartley and Shane Hollamby seeing his miscued clearance hit his own post.
It was Hartley who broke the deadlock four minutes into the second period, Cook finding the net after linking up well with Argent.
Duff doubled the lead after 68 minutes, firing home from the edge of the area after the visitors failed to clear a corner.
Ashford pressed in the latter stages of the game, but were unable to find a way back into the contest and Hartley held on for a 2-0 win that sees them move up to third in the table, just three points off the top with games in hand.
The village side, who caused an FA Cup upset by beating Southern League outfit Merthyr Town at the weekend, are in FA Vase action on Saturday, hosting Hellenic League side Milton United.
