BASINGSTOKE Town's winless start to the season goes on, but manager Jason Bristow insists that he is not panicking yet.

The Dragons have failed to win any of their opening four fixtures, though this week's draws against Bishop's Stortford and Oxford City were an improvement on the two defeats they suffered in the opening four days of the campaign.

However, their stuttering start to the season has left them 19th in the formative National League South table, 10 points behind early leaders Bath and five points outside the top five.

Bristow said: "Failing to win any of our first four games is not ideal, but we have got to keep the players' heads up, keep believing in what we are doing, roll our sleeves up and go again.

"We cannot panic. We have got good players both individually and collectively and have shown in patches over those four games that we are a good side.

"I think we just need to get that first win now. When we do that, I think we will go on a run."

Bristow will be hoping that his side can start their winning run on Saturday, when Margate, another side who are yet to win this season, visit The Camrose.

The Kent outfit, who were promoted from the Ryman League at the end of last season, sit just above Town in the table after drawing three and losing one of their first four games.

Margate are managed by former Aldershot Town and AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown and have several players with Football League experience, including goalkeeper Nikki Bull and midfielder Luke Moore, in their squad.

"Margate are a big side and they will look to make it tough for us, but we just need to continue doing what we do," Bristow added. "It would be great if we could play well and get three points under our belt, but I would not go as far as to say that it is a must-win game this early in the season."

Midfielder Jamie Brown and striker George Hallahan are unlikely to feature due to injury, while another forward, Lloyd Macklin, is a doubt after taking a blow to the nose during Tuesday's draw at Oxford City.
