A JONATHAN Bond error in the 90th minute cost Reading all three points at Hillsborough as they had to settle for a share of the spoils despite leading until the death.

Danny Williams had put Reading ahead in the 49th minute and they were rarely troubled in defence, until Bond dropped a routine catch under pressure and Modou Sougou pounced to fire home an undeserved equaliser.

It means the wait for a first league win of the season goes on for the Royals, who now sit 18th in the Championship after three games.

Sougou's strike was the first shot on target that the hosts' had, and it was a bitter ending for the visitors on an evening where they should've been heading back to Berkshire with all three points.

Steve Clarke made two changes to the side that drew with Leeds, with Andrew Taylor and Aaron Tshibola coming in for Jordan Obita and Nick Blackman.

It was a slight surprise to see Blackman dropped due to a lack of width still being a big problem for Reading, and so it proved in a lacklustre first half.

Neither side had a shot on target in a first 45 that was a carbon copy of so many Reading games in the last 12 months.

Chris Gunter came the closest with a snapshot from the edge of the box but it was always rising.

On the plus side, Reading looked solid defensively, with the experienced duo of Anton Ferdinand and Paul McShane superb in defence.

It was a solid, if unspectacular, performance from Reading but they were much improved after the break and offered a threat in the final third.

Robson-Kanu should've put Reading ahead in the 47th minute when he followed up Orlando Sa's low effort but he blazed over from eight yards out under pressure.

However, it didn't take long for Royals to take the lead as Williams put them ahead just two minutes later.

The front two linked up well before Sa advanced into the box and cut inside, he was tackled but the ball fell to Williams and he steadied himself before firing high across Price.

It was a well-taken strike by the USA international and it settled the Royals down, who were happy to keep the ball and let the hosts chase the game.

Sa should've made it 2-0 in the 55th minute but he somehow headed Norwood's corner wide despite being unmarked just eight yards out from goal.

Norwood went close with a free-kick that tested Price soon after but at the other end, Jonathan Bond was rarely tested.

Clarke brought Hector on with five minutes remaining to help see the game out but it wasn't to be as Wednesday grabbed an undeserved point at the death.

Bond had already dropped one routine catch earlier in the game and got away with it, but he wasn't so lucky second time around as the ball fell to Sougou and he made no mistake.
