DAYER'S Fine Foods hauled themselves out of the Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One relegation zone with victory in their final game.

They enjoyed a 3-1 success in their basement battle with Basingstoke Saints.

Dayer's had spent most of the season bottom of the pile, but they took the lead through Gareth Richards.

Christian Cox doubled the score from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Ben Whitton, with his first-ever goal for the Saints, got his side back into the game and they had enough chances to level, but failed to take them.

Dayer's’ Nick Saunders, arguably the smallest man on the pitch, secured the win with a header.

A special mention should go to Rick Pike, a phenomenal scoring legend for Saints over the past decade, who is giving up the game through injury.

After a promising start to the season, registering three wins in the first eight games, South View slipped to the bottom of the pile after they were beaten 2-1 by visiting Lamb Inn.

Soldiers Return and Tron played out a goalless draw. Soldiers were on top in the first half and Tron were in the ascendancy for the rest of the game.

Matt Osbourne scored a brace, while Jack Talbot, Steven Bean and an own goal completed the New Inn scoring as they beat Chineham 5-2 for a Division Two double. Kieron Alleyne scored both of Chineham’s goals.

The Division Three programme is complete and AFC Golden Lion finished at the foot of the table on goal difference.

This was after a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Chineham Athletic, who secured third place thanks to four away wins in their last five games.

Ben Owen opened the scoring, Dale Hooper netted from a tight angle and Rich Green rifled a shot home from outside the penalty area.

Matt Cook scored the fourth following a smart turn and finish, while Will Bellfield slotted home a fifth after a mazy run and a nice chip.

Champions Eastrop Eagles enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 win over Soldiers Return Reserves, after Jack Urquhart and Paul Adams both scored braces. Soldiers felt they were the better side in the first half, but were a goal down at the interval.

Early in the second half, Paul Couchman equalised, but the Eagles dominated the rest of the game.
