TADLEY Calleva’s promotion destiny is no longer in their own hands after they were beaten by Hythe and Dibden in their penultimate game of the season.
Danny Dolan’s men went down 2-0 on the Solent on Saturday, a result that saw them slip out of the Wessex League Division One promotion places heading into the final day of the season.
Cowes Sports won 4-1 at home to Ringwood Town to move above them and into second place, one point ahead of the north Hampshire side.
Tadley face a trip to 13th-placed Andover New Street on the final day of the season this Saturday, but they will need Cowes to slip up at home to struggling Romsey Town to have any chance of going up.
If Cowes win, they will claim second place. However, Tadley could steal promotion if they win and the Isle of Wight side fail to do so. A draw would be enough for Tadley if Cowes lose as the north Hampshire side boast a superior goal-difference.
