HOOK ended Tadley Calleva A’s five-match unbeaten run in the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Premier Division, winning 3-1 despite being far from full-strength.

With players missing, Hook were forced to call up several members of their reserve team.

Indeed, it was reserves manager Loz Wright who played the through-ball from which Andy Parker opened the scoring on 34 minutes.

However, Simon King levelled the game less than a minute later, beating stand-in Hook goalkeeper Aaron King.

He normally plays as a striker, but had donned the goalkeeper’s gloves in the absence of regular ’keeper Greg Archer.

Hook regained the lead just after the hour mark, Andy Haig netting from a tight angle following a good run from Stacey Harris.

The three points were assured in the last minute, when Tom Davies went on a long dribble, taking the ball wide before playing in Dan Mason to make it 3-1.

Rising Sun DC are now replaying the two games in which they fielded an ineligible player.

The first was against bottom side Welly Old Boys, a game that Rising Sun had won 12-1 when the sides first met.

The result this time around was remarkably similar, with Rising Sun emerging 11-0 winners, taking the total number of goals conceded by Welly this season to 160.

Manager Graham Jenkins had to play in goal for the strugglers, who conceded four in the final 10 minutes.

Stuart Austen led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Ben Nicholls, Ben Vine, Richard Kalwarcyk and Shaun Searle all scored twice.
