RANGERS' first-team stars will bank a £100,000-a-man bonus if they can land the domestic treble this season.

Walter Smith's players - who earned £200,000 each last season for their run to the Uefa Cup Final and double cup success - can achieve the first leg of a clean sweep if they beat Celtic in the Co-operative Insurance League Cup Final at Hampden on Sunday.

They are also into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup next month against St Mirren, and sit three points adrift of Celtic in the championship with 10 games to go.

Despite having cash-flow problems, Rangers bonus structure was laid down at the start of the season in a meeting between skipper Barry Ferguson and chairman Sir David Murray.

It is believed the payments are around £15,000 each for winning the League Cup, £25,000 a head for the Scottish Cup and £60,000 per man to deliver the SPL title - which would provide automatic entry into next season's Champions League group stages and a guaranteed £10million windfall.

So there is a big cash incentive for the Gers stars as they edge close to the first Old Firm Cup Final in six years - although the cash pot on offer is still well short of the £400,000 a man Manchester United's stars will earn if they land the quintuple this season.

Smith will guide Rangers into his first ever final against Celtic, and admits that factor will provide an extra edge for him.

He said: "On a personal note, that maybe gives it something extra for me. But I think you enjoy them all.

"Even when I was assistant manager at Dundee United, and Jim McLean got his hands on the League Cup which was the first trophy he won, I enjoyed these moments. So the League Cup has been decent for me.

"Maybe a stand out would have been when Graeme Souness had become manager and we played Celtic at Hampden in 1986, and an Ian Durrant goal and a Davie Cooper penalty won it for us.

"Last season's with Dundee United was a terrific game and we managed to come back and win on penalties - and if we could replicate that and win the cup again this weekend it would be great."

Kirk Broadfoot is unlikely to shake-off a foot injury and time and is set to miss out, but Smith is likely to have Nacho Novo in his 16 man squad, most probably on the bench.
