FRESH from a highly successful American tour, Four Good Men (formerly A Few Good Men) are celebrating the season of goodwill with a very special gig at the Arches tonight.

The band - whose line-up includes Big Country guitarist Bruce Watson, Simple Minds' Derek Forbes, and H2O's Mick MacNeill and Ian Donaldson - spent a month in the States playing to crowds of up to 5000.

Ian, who scored a hit with the Scots pop outfit with the single Dream To Sleep in 1983, told Times Out: "The reaction has been amazing! We opened for The Pretenders in New Jersey and made 5000 new friends, had an absolute ball, and Chrissie Hynde stood at the side of the stage for the entire set!"

The tour worked its way across America, and generated thousands of hits a day on the band's website (www.fourgoodmen.com) and won over loads of new fans.

It also reminded old fans of the orginal bands - who collectively notched up almost 60 top 40 hits, 10 top 20 albums and eight No.1's - just what they've been missing from the 80s Scots rockers.

As well as the "greatest hits" on the set list, which at previous gigs has included Someone Somewhere in Summertime, Chance, In A Big Country, Dream To Sleep, Waterfront and Don't You Forget About Me, there will be a couple of brand new songs being aired.

Ian said: "Heart of Wonder was a big hit with the audience stateside, so we are going to play it live for the first time in Scotland at the Arches.

"And people can hear another original, called Stars Will Fall."

As an added bonus, the Arches gig will be filmed for a DVD, and Ian urged all fans of their past bands, which have also included Propaganda, Spear of Destiny and The Pretenders, to make it a night to remember.

He said: "If Times Out readers want to be a part of it - come on down!"
