THE stars of Peter Pan On Ice were flying high last night as the international hit show opened in Glasgow.

And local dancer and ice-skater Natalie Cunningham was on top of the world as she made her hometown debut at the SECC in the lead role of Tinkerbell, watched by family and friends.

Natalie, 24, glides 10ft above the ice during the show, which features airborne stunts and lavishly-costumed characters.

Mermaids glide across the ice, while bands of pirates are led by the wicked Captain Hook, who menaces Peter, Wendy and the lost boys.

Natalie, from East Kilbride, has toured the world with the show, which opened in South America in the summer.

It's a dynamic retelling of the tale of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up, written by Scots author JM Barrie.

It stars Julien Bouchard as Peter, and the soundtrack features the voices of Carol Smillie, Brian Blessed and Bonnie Langford, with music ranging from S Club 7 to Frank Sinatra.

Natalie has been dancing since the age of three and has won ice-skating championships at home and abroad.

She has known Olympic figure-skating champion Robin Cousins, who created the show, since she was eight.

The show runs at the SECC until Sunday, with weekend matinees.
