CLYDE boss John Brown today admitted that his side had blown a chance to claim a vital three-point haul against Queen of the South after the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw.

An Alan Trouten penalty had given the Bully Wee a first-half lead but a Stevie Tosh strike 11 minutes from time earned the Doonhamers a vital point which has left Bomber's boys four points adrift of the mid-table pack.

And Brown said: "We gave ourselves a chance of taking full points with the penalty and it looked like we might hold on but one goal is never enough and we are disappointed to have ended up with just a point.

"At this stage in the season and in our position we have to try and take full points from as many of our home games as we can. We had a great chance at the death, with Dave McKay, but unfortunately it didn't happen.

"Now our game with Morton at Broadwood tomorrow night takes on additional importance."

Meanwhile, Morton claimed their first win of 2009 and their first victory in six games with a 2-1 win over Dunfermline at Cappielow on Saturday.

Peter Weatherson and Stewart Greacen goals claimed all three points for the Ton, taking them four points clear of second-bottom Clyde.

Delighted Cappielow boss Davie Irons said: "Given the way we played in the first-half we should have had more to show for it and when they got one back with the penalty late on it became a very nervy ending.

"But we saw it out and it is a very valuable three points that has given us a wee bit of extra insurance before we go to Broadwood tomorrow."

Elsewhere, bottom placed Airdrie scraped a vital point at Ross County with a hard fought 0-0 draw.

Diamonds boss Kenny Black said: "County deserved the win but this was a crucial point for us that has kept us just one behind Clyde. If we are to keep in touch we have to grind out points here and there when we are not at our best."
