FORMER Rangers boss Graeme Souness has been linked with a sensational bid to buy control of Coca Cola Championship club Wolves.
Souness, out of work since parting company with Newcastle United last season, is reported to be heading a consortium that is trying to buy the English club.
The Scot is reported to have held talks with current owner Sir Jack Hayward about a possible £20million takeover of the Molineux outfit.
The former Liverpool and Sampdoria player, though, is not believed to be looking to make a return to management at Wolves.
He is friends with current boss Mick McCarthy and would keep the former Celtic star and Republic of Ireland supremo in the dugout.
Hayward has been trying to offload his beloved Wolves for some time, but is keen for somebody with the best interests of the club to take over.
He sees Souness, who would attempt to run things at boardroom level, as a safe pair of hands.
