PEOPLE in Scotland are starting the year 20 million lbs heavier thanks to festive indulgence and lack of exercise.
With a healthy diet and fitness regime topping the list of New Year's resolutions, research from fitness chain David Lloyd Leisure has found that the average Scot will have 5lbs to lose due to an intake of an extra 250 calories a day over the Christmas period.
The total UK weight increase is equivalent to 277 jumbo jets and 19,635 elephants.
