BANKING giant Lloyds TSB today posted a £25,000 reward to help police catch two gunmen who robbed a branch in Glasgow city centre.

Customers and workers were left terrified when two men burst into the bank's West Nile Street branch and demanded cash.

The pair threatened counter staff with two firearms before grabbing a four-figure sum as the bank prepared to close for the day.

No-one was hurt and no shots were fired but the employees were badly shaken by the ordeal.

The £25,000 reward will be paid through the British Bankers Association, which administers a reward scheme on behalf of the high street banks.

A spokesman for Lloyds TSB Scotland said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have information which could lead to an arrest and conviction.

"The area is well covered by CCTV and the city centre was busy at the time.

"We are hopeful that someone spotted the pair making their escape.

"We urge anyone who knows something about the robbery to contact the police."

Susan Rice, chief executive of Lloyds TSB Scotland, visited the branch on Monday to reassure staff affected by the raid.

The robbery took place around 4.40pm on November 22 in front of a number of customers.

The suspects are described as aged 20-25, of medium build and were wearing dark clothing.

They were last seen running down West Nile Street after the raid.

Anyone with any information on the raid should call 0141 532 3059.
