KILMARNOCK forward David Fernandez reckons his side only need a bit of luck to secure their first SPL win for more than three months.

Hosts Killie dominated possession and territory in the first half of their 0-0 draw with Motherwell but failed to trouble Well keeper Graeme Smith.

Kevin Kyle headed a good chance wide and Smith saved well from Manuel Pascali's header in an even second half, but the Steelmen could have snatched victory in injury-time when David Clarkson volleyed over from 12 yards.

Falkirk's 4-0 victory over Inverness later yesterday leaves Killie just three points off the bottom, but Fernandez said: "We have been playing like this for most of the season. It's all about getting breaks and not conceding goals. We've been doing that too often.

"We're in this position because of that, not because we've been playing badly.

"Eventually it will come. We cannot be so unlucky. We had most of the game, eventually we will get a break and after that it's going to be much easier for us."

Mark McGhee's side have now lost just once in 12 SPL matches and centre-back Mark Reynolds feels they have developed a resolute streak which will give them every chance of securing a top-six place.

"I think we have turned a corner that way, where two or three months ago that would have been a game where we got beaten," the 21-year-old said.

At Easter Road, Scotland striker Steven Fletcher missed a glorious chance to win all three points for Hibs in their 0-0 draw with Aberdeen.

Fletcher completely missed a cross from Colin Nish with the goal gaping.

Nish said: "I couldn't believe he missed, but he scored a good goal last weekend and I'm hoping he'll maybe score one for Scotland against Holland on Saturday."
