AT THIS time in a season, many managers don't care how they win, just as long as long as they earn three points when a match ends.

Certainly Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo has this philosophy and spoke about it today on the eve of his team meeting Rangers at Ibrox.

The Jambos could grab a top-six place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League if Laszlo can guide them to victory against Walter Smith's Rangers.

And Laszlo, whose attacking system revolves around a lone striker, has taken Hearts to third place, despite a lower goal tally than the rest of the top seven.

Hearts have won by a two-goal margin just once in the league this season and the manager now finds himself defending his tactics to supporters who want more flair.

However, he claims he is in good company, as Smith shares his philosophy - winning is all that matters.

"A week ago, I was in Germany in the airport and one guy told me he was a shareholder, and that we don't play nice football yet we sit very high in the table," said Laszlo.

"I asked him what nice football is and he said, Kicking the ball up front'. For me, nice football is to win. If I win, I'm nice; if I lose, I'm bad.

"The man added: We have a dream' and I said, With this system, I give you a dream'. You can't have everything, you can't play nice football and successful football."

And he saw the same qualities as Rangers finish runners-up in the Uefa Cup last season, when they scored five goals in nine games.

"I like Walter. When I meet him we have a good conversation. Rangers and Celtic would always like to play good football but reality is different."

Laszlo added Mike Tullberg would be in the squad having been out some time because of injury, but Andrew Driver will miss out.
