A TERRIFIED shop worker fainted when a knife-wielding robber targeted her store.

The raider threatened the woman at N&N Mini-market, Cumbernauld and demanded cash.

After grabbing the shop takings, the thief fled, leaving the shop worker shocked but uninjured.

The incident happened at 7.55pm on Sunday and the suspect made off with several thousand of pounds in cash and a haul of cigarettes.

It is thought two males were waiting outside the shop and all ran towards a nearby underpass which leads to the Kildrum/ North Carbrain area of the town.

Police today appealed for information following the Christmas Eve robbery and Constable Jim McDonald from Cumbernauld Police Office today said: "This was a very traumatic experience for the staff member.

"She has been left very shaken by this ordeal.

"There were no customers in the shop at the time, however, the area would have been particularly busy.

"I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at that time to contact the police."

The knifeman is aged 24-36. He is of thin-to-medium build.

There is no description of the two men waiting outside the raided store.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable McDonald at Cumbernauld Police.
