CLYDE No.1 David Hutton says the Bully Wee have a psychological edge over Airdrie ahead of Sunday's relegation six-pointer at New Broomfield.

The sides have already met twice this term with John Brown's men winning 2-0 at Airdrie and 1-0 at Broadwood.

Last term Clyde won both legs of the First Division play-off final over the Diamonds to claim an aggregate 3-0 success.

Hutton said: "I suppose you could say that we enjoy an advantage over Airdrie psychologically. It is certainly good to be going to New Broomfield knowing that you have beaten them on the last two occasions you have played there.

"But this game is really important for us in that if we win then we would go six in front of Airdrie with a game in hand. On top of that Morton are just two points in front of us and have a tough game at Partick tomorrow so they could drop points there.

"So if we can beat Airdrie on Sunday we could be out of the bottom two. In that regard I think it is an advantage that we are playing 24 hours after Morton."

However, while the Bully Wee's record against the Diamonds is impressive, what is not is the damning statistic showing only one win in their last seven games.

But Hutton believes that particular tale of the tape doesn't tell the whole story.

He said: "If you look at our last three games then we have lost a tight one to Dundee up at Dens Park, recorded our first win of the season over Ross County and taken a point at Livingston. So we have been playing pretty well without getting the results that we maybe have deserved.

"We haven't played in three weeks due to the weather so there is a real frustration and desire to get out there again.

"On top of that, this one is a derby, and we know how up for it Airdrie will be, given their record against us.

"That means we can take nothing for granted and also that our attitude must be 100%."
