ARBROATH are preparing to ask the SFA to freeze Hearts' gate receipts over an outstanding £14,000 debt.

The Second Division outfit are still chasing the Tynecastle club for money owed from transactions involving Andy Webster.

Arbroath sold the defender - now at Rangers - to Hearts back in 2001 in a £75,000 deal.

A 17.5% sell-on clause was written into the deal at the time and after some dispute over the wording of that agreement.

Arbroath agreed to accept a lesser figure of £14,437 as their cut from the £150,000 Wigan paid for the player following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration.

However, Arbroath are still waiting for the money to be paid into their account.

Their chairman, John Christison, insists they have been too lenient.

He said: "We had a board meeting on Tuesday and discussed a number of things we could do to try and get the money.

"We are in touch with the SFA over this and one thing we could do is ask to freeze their gate receipts. We could also look at applying a signing ban.

"We have been too nice about this for too long and it's sad it has come to this."

Meanwhile, several Premiership sides are set to battle it out for Laryea Kingston's signature next month.

The Hearts midfielder, who has 18 months left on his current £15,000-a-week deal, is wanted by Portsmouth, Wigan and Bolton.

It's also believed there is interest from La Liga in the Ghana internationalist and Hearts could try and cash-in on the £2m-rated midfielder.

Meanwhile, England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce is considering calling up Hearts winger Andrew Driver.

He watched him help Hearts beat Rangers 2-1 at the weekend and said: "He is a young lad who is in the age group and doing well."
