RYAN McGUFFIE has warned his Morton mates that managerless Dundee will be at their most dangerous when they visit Cappielow tomorrow.

The battling 1-0 win over Clyde at Cappielow last week was the Ton's first of the season and they are desperate to build on that solitary success.

But with the Dens Park hierarchy having dispensed with the services of Alex Rae at the beginning of the week, McGuffie is on red alert for a backlash.

He warned: "There is no way that we can take Dundee lightly because they have lost their gaffer. I have lost count of the number of times that has galvanised a side and made them more dangerous.

"On top of that, when you look at the quality of player they have in their side, then you know there is no way you will get an easy shift.

"The guys in the Dundee dressing room will know that they will need to start getting results and impress whoever is in the stands watching and waiting for the chance to take over.

"If anything that will make them even more of a dangerous proposition for us."

The 28-year-old has been pulling the strings at the centre of the Cappielow midfield and is relishing the impending battle with Dark Blues' midfield general Paul McHale, whom he rates highly.

McGuffie said: "Paul McHale is a decent player with good touch and vision and a high work rate. We will definitely need to get to grips with him and look to close him down.

"Obviously, speaking as a midfielder, you are always going to say that the central areas are the most important in any game as they dictate play and I don't see that being any different tomorrow.

"We will all need to be on form throughout the team."

McGuffie believes the return to action of influential Ton skipper Stewart Greacen, who was one of the pivotal reasons behind last week's clean sheet against the Bully Wee, is a massive boost to Davie Irons' side.

The Cappielow playmaker said: "Big Greacen is a huge player for this club. He is the skipper and a real rock at the back line.

"I think there is no doubt that we missed him at the back, especially in the air and he was a major reason we posted a clean sheet last week.

"With Clyde having a tricky game with Livingston we have the opportunity to climb off the bottom of the table if we win, and that is what we are determined to achieve."
