FABIO CAPELLO has urged his players to show no fear as England take the next step forward in his revolution.

The Three Lions tackle Euro 2008 victors Spain in Seville tonight, with Capello eager to see whether the giant strides taken during his first year in charge can be maintained.

"We want to see players who have no fear and plenty of confidence," he said.

"This is a very important step for me. We have to play against all the teams in the world convinced we can win.

"When we played against Germany, I knew which position we were in. Now I don't and we have to recover it."

James Milner and Carlton Cole are two of the more interesting options available to the England coach.

Cole will probably only start if Emile Heskey fails to overcome an ankle problem which prevented him from training on Monday but had eased sufficiently for the Aston Villa striker to be put through his paces at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium last night.

Frank Lampard has an obvious claim on a midfield spot but after their performances in Germany last November, so do Michael Carrick and Gareth Barry.

In addition, David Beckham stands on the brink of a history-making 108th appearance, which would take him alongside World Cup-winning skipper Bobby Moore as the most capped outfield player in England history.

The Italian intends to use all his substitutes, many of them at half-time, to ensure no-one returns from their England assignment too tired.

In return, Capello expects his club counterparts to adopt a lenient approach ahead of the key qualifiers.

"I know the problems for the clubs because I was one," he said. "I can help them and I hope they help me when I need them."
