ST MIRREN manager Gus MacPherson has urged his players to get off to a winning start at their new stadium.

But the Saints boss says he wants the three points because his side have just lost two back-to-back matches rather than marking a new chapter in the club's history.

The Paisley club play their first game at the new St Mirren Park on Saturday against Kilmarnock in front of a capacity 8,000 crowd.

MacPherson does not want to get off to a losing start at their new ground and has made it clear to his players he wants a performance.

After watching his men training in front of their fans, he said: "It's good to have finally moved and we can push on.

"We're not wanting to get a win because we've moved into our new stadium, but because we have not taken any points from our last two games.

"So we want to win for that purpose alone. Kilmarnock will want to come and spoil the so-called party, but it's not a party for us, it's a job and we want three points."

Saints have gone down to Hibs and Dundee United away from home, and Mac added: "It's nice to have a home game as we had to play two away from home to allow us more time with the move. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways."
