QUEEN'S PARK'S flying full-back Barry Douglas says the Spiders must sacrifice style for substance if they are to banish the form that has left them hovering just above the Irn-Bru Second Division drop zone.

The under-pressure Amateurs have only recorded one win in their last nine league games ahead of tomorrow's trip to Stirling Albion.

And the 19-year-old has warned his mates they must take something from their impending battle with the Binos if they are to have any hope of pulling away from the relegation dog fight.

Douglas said: "Our game with the leaders Raith Rovers last week said it all. We felt we matched them over the game all the way but then lost out in the last minute and that was hard to take.

"But that has been the story this season, we have played some good stuff but haven't managed to put points on the board on enough occasions.

"So we have got to learn how to start grinding results out and win ugly. We are at a stage now where we may have to sacrifice some of our passing football and go more direct."

Tomorrow's trip to Forthbank is the first in a three-game sequence that will see Gardner Speirs' side also travel to Ayr before hosting Peterhead in what could be a season-defining spell.

And Douglas admitted: "They are three massive games and we need to try and make a decent start to them with the Stirling game.

"To be fair to Stirling, they are a side who like to get the ball down and pass it like ourselves and that style suits us.

"But this will be my first game at Forthbank and I just hope it will be a winning debut there."
