PAUL BURNS is confident he can challenge for a British title.

The Lanarkshire welterweight is looking to extend his unbeaten professional record to 12 fights when he competes against Stuart Elwell at Glasgow's Bellahouston Leisure Centre tomorrow night.

Burns won an International Masters title in May and believes victory over Elwell can maintain his push for a British belt.

Burns, a healthcare scientist at Gartnavel Hospital, said: "I have seen Elwell on the unde-rcard of Barry Morrison's last title fight. It is tough opposition but I reckon I can take that wee step up."
