SCOTLAND have played on most of the Continents around the world, but surprisingly never in Africa.

TARTAN TIMOTHY of Kirkintilloch may have been pondering this as he asks - Has any African country ever played in a full international at Hampden? Surprisingly not! Although three African sides have visited Scotland, all three were played at Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen. In 1990 Scotland lost 3-1 to Egypt. In 2002 we went down 2-1 to Nigeria. However, in 2007 we managed a 1-0 win against South Africa.

JOHN BLAIR (Carmyle) - Could you give details of the Rangers v Raith Rovers game in the 1960s when Rangers scored 10 goals? This game was played on December 16, 1967, with Rangers thrashing Rovers 10-2. The line-ups were:

Rangers led 5-1 at the interval. The scorers for Rangers were Johnston (2), Persson (2), Greig (2, 1 pen) Ferguson (3) and Willoughby. Rovers' contribution came from Lister and a Dave Smith own goal.

RED SQUARE (Strathaven) - I know that Rangers drew 2-2 with Moscow Dynamo in a match which has become part of Ibrox folklore. Can you tell me the exact date of the match and also tell me how the Russian side got on in their other matches of their British tour? The Ibrox draw took place on November 28, 1945, and was the final match of their four-game British tour. In the first game, they drew 3-3 with Chelsea and followed that up with a massive 10-1 victory over Cardiff City.

They then played an Arsenal Select team, which contained a number of guest players' including Stanley Matthews and Stan Mortensen. They beat the Arsenal Select 4-3 before moving on to Ibrox for the final game of their visit.

VICTORIA BAR (Glasgow) - Please give details of the Glasgow Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden which Celtic won 5-3, sometime in the late 1950s. The teams lined up:

The replay scorers were for Celtic Collins (2), Sharkey (2) and Fernie, and for Rangers Baird, Hubbard and Fallon (og). The crowd was estimated at 39,000.We are indebted to Celtic Historian Martin O'Donnell for supplying the Celtic information.

FOLLOW up reply to FRANK CARRIGAN (email) - We are indebted to Herbie (Neilston) and J.M.G (Barrhead) who wrote to say that Ian and Robert Young were, indeed, brothers who were signed up at Celtic in the 1960s.

We suspected this was the case as both players had played Juvenile football in Neilston at around the same time, but we felt we needed confirmation and once again the readership has come up trumps!

Herbie says that Robert played one game alongside Ian, in a friendly against Gala Fairydean.

JIM FRIEL (Baillieston) - Re: your question from G PARK on Robert Morrison ... he played for St Roch's in the four Intermediate League seasons 1927-1931 and in season 1931-32 (re-entry to the Central League). He then signed for Airdrie. Hope this helps.
