QUEEN'S PARK midfielder Paul Cairney has revealed that he is relishing the prospect of a midfield battle with Celtic's Scott Brown.

The 21-year-old played a key role in helping the amateurs defeat Peterhead 1-0 in last night's Hampden Homecoming Scottish Cup fourth round replay.

Cairney only had his place in the QP side confirmed after Partick Thistle boss Ian McCall agreed to extend his loan spell with the Spiders until the end of the season.

But now the lifelong Celtic fan is determined to come out best against the man who inspires his box-to-box game.

And he said: "Scott Brown is the man and I try and model my game on his. So if we clash I will give him a tussle all right.

"We are a young team and we will go to Parkhead with no fear as we have nothing to lose. Celtic will of course be massive favourites but we will put everything into it."
