ST ANTHONY'S fear the son of Celtic legend Lubo Moravcik could kill off their Citylink Scottish Cup dream.

The Ants are favourites to book a place in the last 32 against Coupar Angus, however co-gaffers James McKenna and Dixie Kilcullen have found out the Taysiders can lay claim to having the Slovakian star's 19-year-old boy Matush - a student at Dundee University - in their midfield.

Jamesy joked: "We would have more cause to be worried if it was his dad playing against us.

"But in all seriousness, our players will be well warned to be on their guard in case the lad is a chip off the old block, even though I couldn't say how we will deal with him if that turns out to be the case."

St Anthony's - who have granted a free transfer to industrious midfielder Mark McCuish in order that the player can sign for Bellshill Athletic - gave some of their fringe players match practice in a friendly against Rob Roy.

The Super Premier side won 2-0 thanks to scores from Ross Hepburn and Paul McQuilken, his third counter in successive matches.

Rob Roy certainly won't be short on firepower when they entertain Haddington in the Citylink Scottish Cup.

Adamslie co-bosses John Richardson and John Mitchell have snapped up Stevie Dymock (Beith), Paul McDougall (Neilston) and Mick Hughes (Cumnock) as rivals for McQuilken and Jamie Docherty.

Although Hughes is cup-tied after a brief substitute appearance in Nock's earlier cup defeat by Arthurlie, the management team clearly do not want a repeat of last season's shock exit at the hands of another East Region minnow, Musselburgh.

"Most of the top-flight clubs carry a minimum four quality front men in their playing squads, so we're simply coming into line with them," reasoned Richardson.

"And, anyway, with injuries, suspensions and work commitments combining, it is seldom you have everyone at your disposal at one and the same time, so having quality back-up is an absolute necessity.

"Keeping everyone happy is obviously the biggest problem for Mitch and myself, however it helps that none of our lads are showing any signs of throwing in the towel in face of the competition for places."

Terracing whispers reckoning ex-Renfrew and St Anthony's hitman Docherty is destined elsewhere were also refuted by the Rabs gaffer.

He added: "We have assured Jamie that he is very much part of our plans so, hopefully, the message will now get out to those clubs thinking they can lure him away."

Transfer-listed former skipper Paul Campbell, training with Lanark United since the early part of the season, was on the Rob Roy substitutes' bench for their 2-1 weekend defeat by Auchinleck Talbot.

However, his boss said: "Paul was at Lanark for all of 10 weeks, yet we did not receive a single transfer bid, so we brought him back into the fold in order for him to feel part of a dressing room again.

"A number of other clubs have shown an interest, so I honestly cannot see him remaining unattached for much longer."

Renfrew, Maryhill and Rutherglen Glencairn are thought to be among those in the hunt for the experienced midfielder.
