Saints striker Dani Osvaldo has completed a move to Boca Juniors after his temporary spell at Inter Milan was brought to an early end.

Saints confirmed this afternoon that their 29-year-old record signing had joined the Argentinian club until June 30.

Osvaldo had moved to Italian side Inter in the summer, but fell out of favour there and was suspended after a furious reaction towards teammate Mauro Icardi when he didn't pass him the ball during a match last month.

He had also finished last season in Serie A, having been loaned to Juventus in January 2014 after he had headbutted current Saints captain Jose Fonte during training - an incident that saw him suspended by his parent club.

However, Osvaldo failed to have much of an impact at Juventus, who did not take up an option to sign him permanently last summer.

Saints paid an initial £12.9m to sign the Argentine-born Italian international from Roma in August 2013.

However, he made just 13 appearances for the club, scoring three goals, before being ushered out of the club.

Osvaldo, who has now returned to his home city of Buenos Aires, is under contract at St Mary's until 2017, but Saints will no doubt hope that his loan spell at Boca Juniors could lead to something more permanent.
