Saints face Nigel Clough's Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup Quarter final tonight.

Here the Daily Echo takes an in-depth look at the League 1 club's squad.

Mark Howard: Former Arsenal trainee, has been an ever present so far this campaign. The goalkeeper, 28, had spells at Aberdeen, Blackpool, Cardiff and Swansea before joining Sheffield United, initially on loan in January 2012. The move was made permanent that summer.

Jay McEveley: Scottish full back, 29, started his career at Blackburn and was loaned out to Burnley, Charlton, Gillingham, Ipswich, Preston and Swindon. Spent three years at Derby County before joining the Blades on a free last summer after two years with Swindon.

Robert Harris: Scottish defender, 27, who has spent most of his career in the Scottish lower leagues with Clyde and Queen of the South. Spent three years at Blackpool before joining Nigel Clough’s Blades last January, making his debut in an FA Cup fourth round victory against then Premier Leaguers Fulham.

Ryan Flynn: Scottish winger, in his fourth year at the club, has three goals this season including a brace in a 2-0 victory against Crewe in an FA Cup first round replay.

Released by Liverpool as a teenager, he returned north of the border to sign for Falkirk before moving to Bramall Lane in the summer of 2011.

Kieran Wallace: The former Nottingham Forest youngster, 19, made his debut for Sheffield United last weekend in a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town.

Jose Baxter: The former Everton youngster, 22, played for England at youth level. Spent time on loan at Tranmere Rovers in 2011/12 before signing for Oldham Athletic the following summer. Moved on to Sheffield United in the summer of 2013.

Michael Doyle: Irish midfielder, 33, who started with Celtic before moving to Coventry City in 2003 where he spent seven and a half years before moving to Bramall Lane. Doyle is now approaching 200 games for the club.

Jamie Murphy: Glaswegian, 25, started his career at Motherwell where he scored 56 goals in 206 appearances. The striker moved to Sheffield United in January 2013, scoring once against Hull City in last season’s FA Cup semi final at Wembley.

Michael Higdon: Striker who began his career at Crewe Alexandra. After being released in 2007, he had spells with St Mirren and Motherwell, where he played alongside current strike partner Jamie Murphy. After bagging 27 goals in 2012/13, he scored 14 goals in 28 appearances in the Netherlands for NEC Nijmegen last season.

Mark McNulty: United’s top scorer so far this season with seven goals, the 22-year-old Scot moved to Sheffield after scoring 45 goals in 117 appearances for Livingston.

Iain Turner: United’s back up keeper has only played in JPT ties this campaign. Started out at Stirling before a £50,000 move to Everton. He spent eight seasons at Goodison Park, most of which was spent out on loan.

Harrison McGahey: The 19-year-old has mades 19 appearances for United since signing from Blackpool in the summer. Had spells as a youngster at Blackburn and Liverpool.

Stefan Scougall: Midfielder who joined United last January from Livingston for £400,000. Has made 20 appearances so far this campaign.

Louis Reed: The midfielder became the club’s youngest football league debutant when he made his debut against Rotherham United in April aged just 17. Has made 15 apperances this season.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce: Jamaican International winger who has won 22 caps. Born in Lambeth, he began his career with Charlton Athletic. Had spells with Rotherham and Barnsley before returning to Yorkshire to sign for United last summer for free.

Florent Cuvelier: Belgian midfielder, 22, spent time with Portsmouth and Stoke City youth teams before being signed by United in the summer of 2013. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Port Vale.

Chris Basham: The midfielder, 26, was at Blackpool when they enjoyed their solitary season in the Premier League in 2010/11. Began his career at Bolton and joined United for free in the summer, having made 42 appearances for Blackpool last season.

Paddy McCarthy: The 31-year-old Irishman is cup-tied having played for Crystal Palace in the earlier rounds of the cup. He started his career with Manchester City before he made his name at Leicester City. McCarthy spent a season with Charlton who paid £650,000 for him before he moved to rivals Crystal Palace.

Chris O’Grady: Journeyman, 28, who has been at 12 clubs. Is unavailable to face Saints, having played in earlier rounds for Brighton and Hove Albion who spent £2 million on him in the summer from Barnsley, where he scored 15 goals in the Championship last season.
