OVERTON United reached the third round of the Hampshire Premier League Cup with a 3-2 victory away at local rivals Stockbridge on Saturday.
The hosts had the better of the early stages but it was Overton who went ahead on 20 minutes, Dave Parry latching onto Nick Jupp’s through-ball and beating two defenders before firing home.
Chris Lavisher hit the post on the half-hour mark but Stockbridge equalised on the stroke of half-time to go into the break level.
Henry Salmon’s bullet header from a corner restored Overton’s lead on 85 minutes and while Stockbridge levelled with an excellent strike five minutes from time, Luke Neller fired in from 25 yards to see the visitors through in the closing stages.
Overton are in action again tonight, travelling to Ryman League outfit Fleet Town in the Basingstoke Senior Cup.
