He made a spectacular start to life at The Dell, scoring a hat-trick on his debut on the opening day of the 1986/87 season.

Steve Davis celebrates his 46th birthday today.

After joining Saints as a trainee, the centre made just six appearances before moving to Burnley, then in the fourth tier.

He went on to play over 300 games for the Clarets in two spells, with over 100 Football League games for Luton Town in between.

Stern John celebrates his 38th birthday today.

The Trinidad & Tobago strike legend arrived at St Mary’s in August 2007 as part of the deal that took Kenwyne Jones to Sunderland.

John is best remembered for scoring two goals on the final day of the 2007/08 Championship season against Sheffield United that helped Nigel Pearson’s men escape relegation.

He was initially loaned to Bristol City in October 2008 before signing for Crystal Palace the following summer.

Joseph Mills celebrates his 25th birthday today.

The former Saints academy graduate, the younger brother of Bolton’s Matthew, made his debut for the club in 2008.

After 26 first team appearances, Mills signed for Reading in 2011 before moving onto Burnley in 2013 and Oldham Athletic last summer.
