Sadio Mane could make his Saints debut against Arsenal tomorrow.

The winger is yet to play since his £10m switch on transfer deadline day from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, but will make the trip to the Emirates Stadium for the Capital One Cup third round clash with Arsenal.

Mane only linked up with his new club last Friday, having been away on international duty with Senegal following his transfer, before a delay in receiving his work permit put his arrival back even further.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman said last week that the 22-year-old had a realistic chance of making his first appearance tonight, after having ruled him out of Saturday’s match at Swansea.

Koeman will again name a strong side this evening, although he will be without some players because of injury.

James Ward-Prowse was carried off on a stretcher during the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 win at Swansea, after suffering an ankle injury.

The midfielder left the Liberty Stadium wearing a protective boot and, although Koeman will not involve the 19-year-old, he says the problem is not serious and is hoping he will be back in contention for Saturday’s game against QPR.

Centre half Maya Yoshida is out too, after also sustaining an ankle knock at the weekend.

The Japan international was hopeful he would be fit, but Koeman will not risk him.

With Toby Alderweireld having missed the game at Swansea, as a result of a relatively minor hamstring issue, it could mean a full debut for centre-back Florin Gardos, who joined in a £6m deal from Steaua Bucharest over the summer.

The Romanian made his debut in the 4-0 win against Newcastle this month, coming on as a late substitute, before playing the second half against Swansea, after replacing Yoshida.
