AFC Aldermaston have made a good start to life in the Thames Valley Premier League, taking seven points from their first three games.
An excellent 4-3 victory at Mortimer last Wednesday was followed by a 0-0 draw with visiting Highmoor Ibis on Saturday, results that left Aldermaston undefeated and third in the table after three games.
Terry Rooney’s men found themselves a goal down early on in their trip to Mortimer and while Kai Parton-Edey had them level before half-time, Mortimer scored two goals in three minutes to lead 3-1 with less than 20 minutes remaining.
The visitors fought back brilliantly, with Liam Tackley bagging a brace in the space of four minutes to pull them level, while Parton-Edey bagged the winner nine minutes from time.
After a goal-laden game on Wednesday, Aldermaston were unable to beat the opposition goalkeeper on Saturday, but a goal-less draw with Highmoor Ibis saw them hold on to their unbeaten record.
Rooney’s team host Woodcote Stoke Row on Wednesday night, while they face a trip to Hurst on Saturday.
