HARTLEY Wintney beat Frimley Green 2-1 on Saturday to set up an FA Cup Preliminary Round tie away at Ardley United tomorrow night.

The village side had been trailing 1-0 when the initial tie was abandoned at half-time due to an incident outside the changing rooms.

The FA requested that the game be replayed, and this time, Hartley were two goals to the good at the break. Shane Hollamby opened the scoring from Luke Walker’s through-ball, with Craig Barker getting the second after Tom Walsh headed the ball across goal for him.

Frimley Green managed to pull a goal back late on, but Hartley held on to set up a trip to Ardley United tomorrow.

Hartley manager Ben Dillon said: “I couldn’t have asked for much more from the boys.

“We knew we were going to be up against it but we were organised, patient and played some great football.

“There is a great spirit at the club, a real togetherness. Hopefully, the result this afternoon is a springboard to greater heights.”

As a result of their progress in the FA Cup, Hartley’s Hampshire Senior Cup game against Andover New Street, which was due to take place tomorrow, has been postponed until next Tuesday.
