Several Saints stars have won international call-ups for September’s friendlies and qualifiers.

As well as Fraser Forster’s selection in the England squad, James Ward-Prowse is amongst the under-21s who take on Lithuania and Moldova.

Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis is part of a 26 man squad for a Euro 2016 qualifier against Hungary on September 7, while Maya Yoshida is in the Japan ranks for friendlies against Uruguay and Venezuela.

Matt Targett and Harrison Reed are in the England under-20 squad to face Romania on September 5.

Ha! Mais oui!

However, I'm happy simply because failure to get picked right now - at this very point in time - would be the ultimate sign from Deschamps to Morgan that he'll not get a look in until he's playing for a team who might occasionally get to play a match or two in some backwater in Armenia on cold Thursday evenings in October.

Thus, had he NOT been selected, it would have given him the perfect opportunity to push for that move we all still fear may happen.

His inclusion might (but might not) be a signal that Deschamps will keep faith with him for the time being regardless of which team he plays for.

However, I'm sure in the long run, should he remain at SMS, he/we will have to be able to get into Europe regularly. In fact, not just in Morgan's case but, in the long run, for almost all of our international hopefuls, from academy players through to those we hope to sign such as, say, Clasie or the Belgian with the long name I'll never be able to spell.

And I'm happy Yoshida is in the Japanese squad. He has been playing very well so far this season. Long may it continue.

Wierd innit. ....hearing the squads get announced today I am listening thinking Clyne and JWP have to get a call ahead of Delph and Rose, but then I remember what happened last time we campaigned for our boys to be called up. Let's just keep our boys at home and support Northern Ireland and Kenya.
