LUKE Shaw claimed bragging rights over his former Saints colleague Rickie Lambert as Manchester United lifted the International Champions Cup this morning.

Shaw came on as an eighth minute sub for the injured Antonio Valencia as Louis van Gaal ended his first pre-season tour as manager with a 3-1 final win over Lambert’s Liverpool in Miami.

Steven Gerrard's penalty put Liverpool ahead, but Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata scored within two minutes of each other before Jesse Lingard rounded off the victory at the death.

Seriously, who cares what any of the deserters are up to? History now, and only SRL should receive the goodwill of the fans. Not only did he offer several years of dedicated service ( only Adam can say the same) he left in the right way( which obviously Adam can't say)
More interested in our current stars and seeing how well we can perform this season, and surprising the London media/ shoving their $h!t stirring words down their throats.

Not only the London media....it seems that everyone including our own "local" paper are out to get us. Lets see how they all sing our praises after a few games in and how they all come seeking our players again...but this time, it will be different. We will have a fantastic season and we will be the envy of the league yet again.

History was the word, now we have the future to look forward to...new talents and surprises for everyone. These ex saints were over rated by the media and the big clubs brought into it. What a great bit of business by the Saints. Last season towards the end, Lambert and Lallana couldn't find the net, and Pochetinos tactics were being worked out. Pochetino was given a lot of credit for the football we were playing, but I for one could see us playing a high pressing posession game from the days of League 1.

Now we have a great manager, two of the best players from the Eredivisie, Bertrand and more to come. How can we as Saints fans be anything less than optimistic, we have an owner that does not want to sell the club, a chairman with limited experience in football (which showed in the transfer window), although, full of positive energy and a state of the art academy which has produced the new batch of youngsters that will surprise everyone again.

We will continue to grow. We will get stronger. We are one and not one player is bigger than the club. COYS!! Make us proud and stick one to the old boy establishment that have no vision.

Man U have spent millions but under FFP they have a huge amount of revenue coming in with 70,000 stadium and millions of fans globally. There stops the comparison. For Saints to try and compete on the same financial scale would spell disaster. The only way Saints can compete is to convince the next generation of stars coming through the Academy to remain at the club for the long term until they maximize their potential. This is what Cortese had sold to them but has now temporarily been undone. Saints are still in a strong position but will have to rebuild from the bottom again. With Koeman at the helm it is all possible.

Just a thought though nothing to do with this boring thread. Amidst all the talk of transfers within rival clubs, which seem to go through smoothly unlike with ours with Reed at the helm, it does seem that the likes of Wenger, Rogers, etc are actively engaged whereas RK does not seem to have the primary say in what goes on.

I might repeat this if no action taken, but talking of ex-Saints (even a legend) why is RL's photo still shown at the top of Daily Echo's nightly email? DE, he has GONE!

How about Spider to cheer him up or our new striker. Rickie, bless him, is history and he misses penalties now, anyway.

I liked what Graziano Pelle said when asked what he will bring to the team? he said I prefers to show his style on the field not talk about it.. Good luck to him and I hope we can follow that by shutting up and letting those that stayed and played for Saints show us what they think of those who left - on the field. I'm a big gob though so can't help saying I hope they give em a good stonking. nuff said.. thank you
