RUMOUR MILL, July 24 - Saints linked with another of Koeman's former players and two other international midfielders

Koeman eyes new signings

Koeman eyes new signings

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has been linked with yet another of his former Feyenoord stars.

As previously reported, the Dutchman is supposedly interested in centre back Stefan De Vrij after already raiding the Rotterdam outfit for striker Graziano Pelle.

Now there are rumours that he will look to sign Netherlands international Jordy Clasie if current Saints star Morgan Schneiderlin exits for one of his supposed suitors -- Arsenal or Tottenham.

Although there has been no confirmed contact yet, Koeman apparently wants Clasie who was his captain at Feyenoord.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been dubbed ‘Dutch Xavi’ because of his passing ability and vision that is similar to the Barcelona star's style of play.

However Saints may face tough competition if they were to bid for Clasie.

Unsurprisingly, Clasie has been linked Manchester United after playing under new Old Trafford boss Louis Van Gaal at the World Cup in Brazil.  Liverpool have also been linked with the player.

The transfer speculation doesn’t end there, with the St Mary’s club linked with moves for two other midfielders.

Lazio’s Nigerian international centre midfielder Eddy Onazi is reported to be another one Koeman’s targets if Schneiderlin moves on.

The 21-year-old  appeared in all of the Super Eagles’ World Cup matches in Brazil and has since attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, Manchester City, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs.

Norwich City’s Leroy Fer is another Dutch international to be tipped for a switch to the South Coast.

Fer moved to Carrow Road from FC Twente, where Saints signed Dusan Tadic from, last summer but after their relegation has been apparently been subject of interest from Premier League clubs.

He remains keen on a move back to the top-flight and might try and force a move through with QPR already having a bid rejected by the Canaries.

The 6ft2in 24-year-old midfielder exited Feyenoord just as Koeman was arriving in 2011.

We have signed two players which were known to Koeman, and more are on the radar. This in itself I do not have a problem with. What does concern me is what the hell have Les and his merry men been up to in all the time leading up to his appointnent, when surely it was known that there was a possibility of the players who have left were going to leave. Also when Saints/Les do make an offer for a player who does not have a Koeman connection, we seem to want to extract the Michael from the selling club! Not a clever way of going about ones business.

I'm getting seriously fed up with the 'if we sell Lovren' 'if we sell Spider' talk, which is coming from the club incidentally (or in Lovren's case anyway).

Can't we exercise a bit of control in all this?

Surely the board knows if it is going to keep these players or not and if there is a doubt that we could be subjected to a last week of the window onslaught (which is looking increasingly likely) we need these players in NOW not when we are panic buying.

Centre back is so obvious - we are not drowning in quality in defence so if we have Lovren and another quality defender on his side so what? It's good strength in depth.

Replacement for Spider is less necessary, but what is clear is that we needed to strengthen defence before Lovren and Shaw looked likely to go, so we definitely need to strengthen now regardless.

People may not like to hear it, but Spurs are looking very good for next season and Poch is already showing his class because he's a good manager. And rather than making massive changes as Liverpool and we are doing, he's just strengthening the depth of the squad in areas where they are short. As much as I'd love him to fail, it isn't going to happen.

People can thumbs that down as much as they want, but it isn't going to change anything.

But there is no one the board capable of knowing this or of choosing his replacement because the are clueless when it comes to football, particularly Ralph.
Can't think of any players that have had a good word to say about Les and it was well reported that the players that have left so far did not like him much.
After saying all that he comes across as a decent guy when he is interviewed.

That's too low, after all he has brought in Koeman and a few decend backroom staff.

Lowe rightly gets a lot of stick but we must remember it was him that started our great youth project by heavily investing in out it, he also bought the likes of Spiderman and Lallana that we now profit from.

You can see the good in everyone if you look hard enough.

Look I keep saying Ron Ko would not have come to a club with no future unless he thought it had one.Us supporters know it all but could we really run a Premiership team? I don,t think so.So the situation is that we have to trust what is going on.Nobody can guarantee success.Look at Moyes and M U last year. All we can do is trust in what is going on for hopefully our benefit and look forward to the coming season.

the `cancer of the club` `its well reported none of the players liked him` `cant think of any players who have had a good word to say about him` `board are clueless about football` `championship here we come`?????????

the cancer of the club? hes been here 5yrs and how has our youth done over that time? well seeing as we have a squad full of youngsters who have made the grade I think hes done quite a good job. its his youth and player policy the club is working to!
its well reported the players didn't like him? show me a link! the only player who has said he didn't like him was stevie gee, and that was because he wouldn't hold the hand of a grown lad on a trip abroad!
cant think of any players who have had a good word to say about him?
@LukeShaw3 Also a massive thank you to everyone at @southamptonfc including players , staff and fans. Loved every minute of my time there. did he forget to leave les reed out? isn't les a member of staff?
board are clueless about football? chairman ralph, not football but excellent knowledge of sporting values. Technical Director Martin Hunter lifetime in football former first team coach at Norwich, temp manager. former first team coach Watford, former assistant manager at stoke and Bradford, and temp at saints. 13yrs at the FA as U15`s, U16` and U19`s manager. holds the prestigious UEFA Pro licence. does all that knowledge and experience make him `clueless at football`? les reed also a former manager who has a lifetime in football, clueless?
the rest of the board are there to do their non-football jobs like CEO, former chief financial officer Gareth Rogers!
championship here we come? really before a ball has been kicked? can you really tell that? no faith in the manager or the rest of the squad, only 3 (4 with Osvaldo) have left! more might but equally might not!

oh and yes lowe did invest in the youth setup but as we already had an excellent setup which produce many top class players over the years, LeGod, Shearer and all of the wallaces for a start! you cant credit him with starting anything apart from spider!

At the risk of sounding like a neggie, I can understand some composure, maybe even restraint to be shown, but given the amount of money we made from selling the backbone of our team, and the reported 100 million 'war chest' I would have hoped to see a bit less reservation in getting some more high quality players in to bolster the ranks by now.
In saying that my hope is that Ron has the control he needs over these decisions and is taking his time in order to get the best players possible for the best price.

I told you before Les Reed is the cancer of our club.
Why do you think so many players are leaving and we are struggling to get players there are big problems with this bloke.
Time to get real 3 weeks to go championship here we come...
He's just Lowe in disguise.

Of course it helps to distort the truth a little bit too. Well done.

the `cancer of the club` `its well reported none of the players liked him` `cant think of any players who have had a good word to say about him` `board are clueless about football` `championship here we come`?????????

the cancer of the club? hes been here 5yrs and how has our youth done over that time? well seeing as we have a squad full of youngsters who have made the grade I think hes done quite a good job. its his youth and player policy the club is working to!
its well reported the players didn't like him? show me a link! the only player who has said he didn't like him was stevie gee, and that was because he wouldn't hold the hand of a grown lad on a trip abroad!
cant think of any players who have had a good word to say about him?

Did you know that no one has talked to Fonte about his contract all he has had is a letter saying he will be offered a new one. Meanwhile Cardif have been offering him through his agent more money than we are paying him.
Lovren said he didn't know who to talk to at the club regarding contract or transfer negotiations.
Lallana said no one at the club would talk to him about his situation pre departure.
Cork is not happy about his lack of contract negotiations.
If Les isn't the man to put his arm around the players shoulders and talk to them face to face and sell them a vision for our club then find some one who is!
Lowe was the first to put major funds into our youth policy and said at the time it would take around 7 years for it all to pay off.
