SAINTS boss Ronald Koeman has been linked with a move for another of his former Feyenoord stars.

Koeman recently signed striker Graziano Pelle from the Dutch club, and is now reportedly keen on centre half Stefan De Vrij.

The 22-year-old played in all seven of Holland's recent World Cup games, and would be an obvious replacement for wantaway Dejan Lovren.

Unsurprisingly. given he played in Brazil under Louis Van Gaal,  De Vrij has also been linked to Manchester United, who are also in the market for a centre half having lost both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand in recent months.

Koeman has also been linked with Aston Villa's Dutch international centre half Ron Vlaar, who he sold for £3.2m to the Premier League club two summers ago during his time at Feyenoord.

Koeman is also reportedly keen on River Plate's £7m-rated striker Teófilo Gutiérrez.

The 29-year-old appeared for Colombia in the recent World Cup, and scored in a 3-0 win over Greece.

The player has only once played in Europe, spending a season with Turkish League club Trapzonspor in 2010/11.

Can't see this one happening as he's being linked with manure. We must bring in a quality centre half though and a keeper as a minimum

He looks an outstanding young defender. Irrespective of the Lovren situation, if we can get him, we should. Caulker too.

So are we aiming to become to Feyenoord what Liverpool have become to us? Why not just introduce this guy directly to Brendan Rodgers and cut out the middle man?

It's ok. We thought we were totally reliant on our new striker seeing as he is the only one available at the moment. Let's hope he doesn't pick up an injury. But then again RK is already proving his class as Hoover got the goal last night. He obviously spotted that he is pretty useful at hitting the net. He just needed telling at which end. Seriously though, you are right. We are getting very fed up with the lack of action an it's time this started to change. I'm beginning to think that Thievingskiverpool have bought Les Reed as well.

Steven Caulker.....rumoured to have gone to QPR for weeks, screw them! Get in there saints! DEFINITELY have the money to put in a sneaky 8 million bid and snatch him away, he would be a like for like replacement for Lovren, then add keeper, hopefully Forster and another striker/winger and we'll be right. De Vrij is a good player but I don't won't to see all these foreign imports, get someone who has played in the prem, has experience, rather than taking a risk - FFS don't they learn anything, I'm talking Osvaldo and Ramirez, big money buys for what!? Also, if Schniederlin goes, which it looks like he will, RoKo should be looking to replace him with Jordy Classie, we haven't really been linked with him yet but he's a quality player - goes against what I said about foreign players but then again there has to be exceptions! Wouldn't cost as much as spider will be sold for as well.

So, get off your fu*king **** Les Reed, start doing something for once, and do what you promised the fans - start getting players in and start saying no to clubs wanting to buy our saints!

Signing the right players is paramount for us. Of course there are players who won't want to come here, especially after the problems we are currently working through, there will be players we can't afford, players we get pipped at the post for and players who might fit well into another squad but not Rambo's. Stop trying to rush it - that's what Twattinsham shitespur did with their money and they ended up with a load of misfits. You can guarantee the scouts are doing their research, Rambo will be doing his research and Les will be working on whether we can afford them or not. The window doesn't close for a long time yet and there is still the Jan window to fill in any identified cracks.
Slow down, take a deep breath and show some patience - all will be worked out in good time. One or two of those Feyenoord defenders will do nicely and so would Clasey (though MF is not a priority right now)

He's at QPR having a medical according to Sky Sports. To be honest though anyone who joins QPR is likely to be offered a financial package we can't compete with, plus the joys of a heat magazine lifestyle in London and, if that's what the guy wants, we're not missing out on much.

This guy and Vlaar would do very nicely and hopefully the Man Utd link is just the press putting two and two together. In terms of both those players though we'd have to stop messing around and put a proper bid together and get it done fast and if we really did come in for Caulker late in the day, that's just more evidence of our slow, indecisive approach.

Slightly worried me that Ronald seemed to suggest we'd maybe go for Vlaar 'if Lovren went'. Seems very unproactive to me and again I just think the board is being very, very naive in thinking we can wait around and see what happens. We need more than replacements for players, we need to strengthen in areas where we've let fringe players go and, ideally, we need to ship the likes of Hoover and possibly Fonte out and replace with quality IF we are really serious about aiming high that is.

Also I think we should F*ck Lovren off to whoever and get both vlar and de vrij. Didn't Cardiff want fonte? Sounds perfect to offer fonte plus a couple mill for Caulker..... everyone's a winner :)

All of sudden posters seem to see the need to use swear words in their posts, it is doesn't really add to the impact of post and normally shows a lack of vocabulary. Naughty Seed, Rule 1 don't quote the spam. Multiple posts are usually the fault of the poster although sometimes the site teds to hang up and it can be difficult to tell whether the original has been sent, a quick F5 check will let you see if is has posted OK.
As far as De Vrij is concerned I say yes please, it is a shame what has happened to Feyenoord, I suppose what is good for the goose is good for the gander, and as posters on here say, we need to be more hard nosed in our business if we are to get anywhere. Say what you like about NC, but when he set on his mind on something he didn't mind who he trod on to get what he wanted. So let's see some butt kicking and get some in.

Much of what you say is correct but why all this dithering by the board whilst the club is becoming a laughing stock and less and less attractive to possible newcomers. If things don't improve pronto we shall finish up more of a Championship outfit. As for being able to afford players I thought Reed had made it clear from the start that ample funds were available to strengthen the squad and our players were not for sell. What a joke that is now. And his implied statement that world class players were queing up to come here As far as communication with fans is concerned both Reed and Kruger are a disgrace and the latter seems to have gone into hiding. My only consolation at present is that our esteemed manager seems up beat and positive so maybe something is about to happen to put us all back on track.

Yes, I quite agree, gaz. OSPREYSAINT's post was a shocking mutilation of the English language. Sentence structure, ending a sentence with a preposition, typos, grammar, you name it, it was in there.
For someone who likes to pick up other people on their English, I suggest a return to school for a few quick revision lessons.

OK - as this is the rumour mill page, and as I am in danger of being lumped in with the "neg-head" school of thought on this site, I have decided to cull the transfer rumour websites and put a positive slant on our glorious club's transfer hopes.

As reported in the main article, we are interested in Stefan de Vrij of Feyenoord. He is also reportedly attracting attention from Manchester United, but their interest may be only lukewarm as they already have one inexperienced player in their defence, and adding a 22-year-old to a 19-year-old may not stand them in good stead in the Premiership.
Manchester Untied may be more interested in Ronnie Vlaar of Aston Villa, another of our apparent targets.
If Vlaar is set on a move, he must choose between Koeman, with whom he has history at Feyenoord, and van Gaal with the national squad.

Saints are still keen on Fraser Forster of Celtic, but there is a difference in valuation here - Saints are offering £7.5m but Celtic want £9m. A trifling difference in my opinion given the amount of cash we are pulling in from player sales.
Saints seem to have cooled interest in David Marshall of Cardiff, who are asking for £8m for him.

Other, more tenuous rumours link us to Virgil van Dijk, also of Celtic; John Guidetti of Manchester City, who value him at £6m; and, interestingly, Teo Gutierrez of River Plate.
River Plate has, apparently, defaulted on payments for Gutierrez (I am unclear on the details), but he is available it seems, and we are apparently showing an interest in him, along with Deportivo La Coruña.

So hopefully these little tidbits will keep the "clappers" happy for a few hours at least......
Signing the right players is paramount for us.
One or two of those Feyenoord defenders will do nicely and so would Clasey (though MF is not a priority right now)
Much of what you say is correct but why all this dithering by the board whilst the club is becoming a laughing stock and less and less attractive to possible newcomers.
You start by saying you agree with much of what I presented then immediately went back to your old stance. You have no idea, any more than I what is going on in the background. The exodus of our English/Liverpool squad will have, for sure, frightened off some of the top players who may have considered us.
Reed and Kruger are doing what they should be doing and that is keeping quiet until the management team need them. Running the club's admin and finances and also keeping out of the way. I guarantee they are sweating their hairy ones off to assist the Koemans though - just you and I will never get to see it or hear about it and again, that's the way it should be. Don't panic, all is well, just leave everyone to do their jobs. We have the makings of a good squad all it needs is a little tweaking and we'll be mid table potential while the Koemans go about re-building a shattered team.

5 out of ten for trying, though? OK 4 then. How about remarking on the content rather than the grammar e.t.c. It is OK for you young whippersnappers, what is left of my grey cells are deteriorating fast, you have to make allowances. I even get a laugh at the errors I make when I read back, thinking "Did I really post that rubbish"?

I offer friendly advice not enforcement, how you respond isn't so important. You didn't say whether you agree or disagree about the swearing thing though. Used in the right context it can wok a treat, just swearing to gain attention isn't a very good thing, especially as an example for our younger posters to follow.

Yup, that worked, better than all of that negative stuff, not too sure about Gutierrez though, his track record is bit dubious didn't he threaten a team mate with a paint ball gun or something?

We in a precarious position with the countdown to the start of the new season well advanced. The management have not stepped up to the mark, and we risk being redicued for this.I just hope that we can survive in the top flight to rebuild, but it is a big ask.
Oh and OspreySaint it is repetive, but its not boring if you care and have been a Saints fan for 50 years and seen them achieve the quality that they played last season.

Good to hear some news about players we are looking at but how much of this rumour or fact? However the absolute fact is that we need quality players in and quickly so they can do pre season work with the squad. All the other premier teams seem to be ahead of the game, in particular Liverpool they seem to have an open cheque book and seem to be on a spending spree like Spurs ladt year (still look what happened to them)
Like the latest news on Forster he would be a good buy definitely a goalkeeper for the future. But didn't like the news that Spurs are in for Spider.
In a word please say NO. Enough is enough !

Your last sentence applies to me apart from the fact I have been watching for 60 years and it is annoying to see people repeating the same negative opinions, when a lot of what they are saying has no basis of fact, they are just speculating and some are not even Saints supporters, just wind up merchants, which it seems you would rather listen and believe in, as opposed to those that post positive from what they hear from official sources. That is your choice, it's not for me to deny you that right.

I'd love to see the moaners on here try and run Premiership football club and see how easy they would find it to make multi million pound international deals happen! THESE THINGS TAKE TIME! Regardless of how much we as fans love Saints, a player from abroad doesn't instantly want to join us and will weigh up multiple options from around the world beforehand. Just be grateful we are part of the big game at the top table, support all members of the club and stop moaning!

The overall facts are simply the board have not been communitve, have hoodwinked us on selling our best players ,and have misled us on transfer money available. You have no evidence to establish who is or is not a saints fan.Just because they may criticise the present set up it does not make them wind up merchants.I have my own opinion which I am entitled to have, and of course you are entitled to as well .So don't label people because you feel they are giving negative views. We all want success for the Saints, but recent activities with departures and key positions changes has not boded well for the club and has upset many long time supporter's.

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero hinted at a bid for Southampton outcast Daniel Pablo Osvaldo.

Ferrero joked with a fan on Twitter who wrote about the possibility of signing the former Roma and Juventus striker.

“Osvaldo is a dream. If it came true, I’d order a marble statue of Ferrero for my garden,” wrote the fan.

The response from President Ferrero was: “Start looking for a sculptor.”

Today Southampton manager Ronald Koeman announced Osvaldo was no longer welcome at the club after he failed to attend pre-season training.

“It was a difficult situation for him to come back to,” Koeman told BBC Radio Solent.

“He was too late. The decision of the board was to allow him not to come back. We have to look for opportunities for him to play in a different team.”

The 28-year-old has been linked with Juventus, Inter and Napoli, but they are only prepared to take him on loan.

Sampdoria would be able to give Osvaldo regular playing time under a disciplinarian Coach like Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The Italy international was a record signing for the Saints in August 2013 for £15m, but within months had headbutted teammate Jose Fonte in a training ground brawl.

He was also fined £40,000 and suspended for three games due to violent conduct during an incident against Newcastle.

Let me get something straight here, I haven't named any poster specifically have I? They know who they are and so do most of the decent regular posters, I seem to have rocked your boat and you don't like what I do, fair enough, you are not alone, that is no cause to be abusive and resort to immature name calling. I am aware of what has happened recently, I am not aware of what the Board and management are planning to do now and in the future, any more than the next person, so it would be hypocritical to slate them on a load of tittle tattle promulgated by those that know even less than I do.

Yes but if you read what I said properly it should be apparent, I said "you are not alone" and after that made my remark. I understood that you took it personally as an attack on you personally which isn't what I intended, most wouldn't have made anything of it you saw the negative side and that is typical of your posts I am sorry to say.

No basis for fact? Signings 2: replacements for Lallana and Rickie
Squad reinforments 0
These are facts Osprey Saint!

Name calling?,please elaborate? I think you need to read my comment again.
No you misunderstood me, I was referring to a couple of others that dislike my efforts, check through the other threads earlier today and you will see what I mean. Some are getting a bit too personal, not you on this occasion sorry didn't mean to accuse you specifically, if that is what you thought I meant.

Bookmakers have us as second favourites to sign Jordy Clase, behind ManU and ahead of Arsenal. Whilst Liverpuddle are just waiting to see how he gets on with us.

What a joke you lot really are, moan when Liverpool keep coming in for your players, but happy to raid Feyenoord for their players.
Finally - a logical statement from a wind-up merchant. You do have a valid point!
Not to mention another raid on poor old harmless Celtic, we really are bad boys.
One in from Feyenoord so far and none in from Celtic at all this year - please supply evidence of "Raiding" anyone.

There are a couple of likely lads at both teams I would like Rambo to make enquiries (through the correct channels of course) to see if they might be available>

One player, on an agreed fee and with no hard feelings from either team does not constitute a "Raid".
