Saints’ Dani Osvaldo became a record breaker when he helped Italian champions Juventus beat Cagliari 3-0 today to end the season with a best ever 102 Serie A points.

Juve had scored all three of their goals before bringing on Osvaldo, who is on-loan from Saints, in the 60th minute. Andrea Pirlo netted in the eighth minute with Fernando Llorente and Claiudio Marchisio also on target in a one-sided first half. The second half was all about warming up for the post-match celebrations with Juve rarely even trying to add a fourth.

Juventus have an option to buy Osvaldo permanently from Saints for around £15.5 million but reports in Italy indicate they probably wont take that up.

The skilful forward, who was shipped off to Italy by Saints after a training ground incident with Saints defender Jose Fonte, is quoted as saying of his Juventus team-mates: “This is a fantastic group, sincerely, I am honoured to be part of this group because it has helped me grow both as a professional and as a person.”

Saints, unlikely to recoup the money they paid for the controversial forward, will still be looking to sell him on rather that bring him back to the group in the St Mary’s dressing room.
